Nevermind on Modern Warfare 2
I was planning on being real busy playing it next week. But after reading this, I’m canceling my preorder. I was already somewhat miffed about the lack of dedicated servers, so I’m now forced to speak with my wallet. If they just wanted to make a console shooter, they should have done that. Thanks Infinity Ward,…or is Activision to blame?

Okay, after reading my last post, you can be assured that my hopes for Just Cause 2 being a good game had risen to new heights. By the time my Windows 7 (and subsequent drivers, programs, etc.) install was complete, it was pretty late. So, I started loading the demo for Just Cause 2 and [...]
Nerfs: Gamebreakers or Necessities?

If there’s one thing all of mankind can agree on, its that Nerfs suck. The age old question however, is if they are unwarranted or truly needed for balance. As with almost any game, lately I’ve noticed this topic being discussed fervently within Allods Online. Now, before I continue its important to note a few things. First off, [...]

Oh yes gentle reader, you are on the cusp of a post regarding Warhammer Online! Long time since I’ve written anything about the game. In fact, I think the last thing I wrote was about large members of its community walking away from the game, and how it needed to be a turning point for [...]
Why am I still playing this game?

Ok. I joined multiplaying a few (several?) months ago, a bit before Aion launched. I was excited about it, as were many of the members and contributing visitors to the community. As I recall, there was a bit of hype concerning the game in many other areas too. I know that initially spirits were high, [...]

Here’s a guest post via the forums by Devin, a.k.a. Takzenen. Enjoy!
I’ve always been a “Jack of All Trades” kinda guy. I’ve always fit this “Jock Nerd” type well. I played all kinds of sports when I was younger, and I’m always up for a game of backyard football or a pickup game of ‘hoops, [...]

There’s this game. You may have heard of it. It’s called Mass Effect 2. Hit stores a couple weeks ago, and the kids seem to dig it. Since I’m hip with what the cool cats are jiving on, I figured I’d get down and boogie. Cut a rug on the gaming dance floor if you [...]

There are a handful of games coming out or are already out this year that I am extremely excited about. One of them hits stores (and Steam) next week and that’s Bioshock 2. With trying to finish off Mass Effect before picking up Mass Effect 2 in between play sessions of Global Agenda, I have [...]

Okay, I’m joking of course. What’s really happened was some re-arranging of furniture in the Slurms household. It seems that ever since we took the trees down after the holidays, we’ve been constantly shifting things around the house and purging anything we can in the pursuit of a little bit of order in the chaos [...]

Meh, I have TF2. I didn’t really plan on buying this after realizing how much of a nade-fest the first one was.

I don’t really see having a 18 player cap as a negative. If the maps were designed for 18 players then everything should be fine. That was my main problem with MW1 on the pc. Having 50 players on maps that were only designed for 12 or 16 was no fun at all. More players doesn’t always equal more fun.

I don’t think 9v9 is a bad thing either really. I hate playing on some of the COD4 maps with 32 people and as soon as you move you die. I think this might actually promote more squad type tactics, as you’ll need to rely more on your teammates to stay alive.
November 4, 2009 - 10:44 pm
If I want to play a 9v9 game, I’ll play on a server that’s capped at 18 players by choice. I have always chosen to play on larger populated servers because I like the chaos, especially in CoD4. It made it seem more like a battle than a covert mission. Not to say a covert style multiplayer shooter wouldn’t be great, just not with random dudes online.
I think the real kick in the ass is that this is coming out a week before launch. Most people won’t even be aware of this when they buy the game.

I just read that there is no leaning either because, and I quote “The game was balanced with leaning in mind”. WTH? I figure it’s only a matter of time though before someone figures out how to mod it to connect to their own dedicated servers.
November 9, 2009 - 8:24 pm
LOL no leaning either?? damn
I grew to understand the no dedicated servers thing. They want everyone to use IW.net for player matching in an effort to stop cheating and piracy. I got it. I didn’t like it. But I got it. The 9v9 thing is utter crap caused by IW.net not being able to handle more players.
I still want the game for the single player. but I’m at the point where I can’t justify spending 60 bucks for it.

You should check out Battlefield Bad Company 2.

I know,..that game looks awesome. The destructible environment stuff is amazing. I think it’s a March release, so right in time for my Bday. =D
