Nice blog, made me think.

While I have been upset with some of BioWare’s recent products.. TESIV and Fallout 3, I can not deny the level of polish and work that BioWare puts into their MMOs.

Dragon Age is indeed a great game, and has redeemed BioWare a lot in this gamers eyes.

That said, I’m trying VERY hard to not get into the hype and follow BioWare, just can’t take that kind of anticipation/dissapointment anymore. I will judge SWTOR when it is a released MMO.

I have all the same concerns except one.

I no longer have faith just because it’s BioWare. I told myself that it’s Mythic all the way through 2007 and 2008 watching WAR.

In 2007 and 2008 we say “it’s Mythic.” In 2009 we are quickly reminded it is EAMythic.

In 2009 and 2010 we will keep saying “it’s BioWare.” I wonder when we will be reminded EABioWare.

Despite that, I will not only buy it, but play fanatically. This I can’t deny.

Yeah, I think the animations will help pull it off though. The work they are going through in animation capture is on the same lines of what they do for movies. Good stuff.

I’m having the same kind of concerns. I agree with the approach they are taking towards the character designs, but the actual execution of the design is missing something. Charm.

You can take a low-fi approach to anything as long as you make up for it with style and charisma. So far I’m not seeing that in the character designs.

As a wise man once said, “fans are clingey complainging dipsh!ts who will never be happy with any concession you make.”

Movie purists will be upset if it deviates from the “original” work, KOTOR fans will be upset if they dont get to play a guardian, and the river of fanboy tears will follow.

Do I have confidence in Bioware? Yes.
Am I still scared ****less that they are going to botch SW? Yes.
To quote the seriously overused phrase: “Only time will tell.”

I’d also like to re-iterate that this picture never ceases to be awesome.
