Nerfs: Gamebreakers or Necessities?

If there’s one thing all of mankind can agree on, its that Nerfs suck. The age old question however, is if they are unwarranted or truly needed for balance. As with almost any game, lately I’ve noticed this topic being discussed fervently within Allods Online. Now, before I continue its important to note a few things. First off, [...]
My second favorite thing about WAR

Oh yes gentle reader, you are on the cusp of a post regarding Warhammer Online! Long time since I’ve written anything about the game. In fact, I think the last thing I wrote was about large members of its community walking away from the game, and how it needed to be a turning point for [...]

I’ve been spending a bit more time in Middle Earth for the past week. My account is still active until the end of the month from that deal of deals that I got before the holidays, and I figured I needed to jump in and see what’s what before deciding if I should keep a [...]

Games based on the microtransaction model are not new and seem to be gaining in popularity. These games entice you to test the waters with whispers of “I’m free to play! Come and see!” They give you a taste of the free samples. Then like the proverbial kid with his nose pressed against the glass [...]
Why am I still playing this game?

Ok. I joined multiplaying a few (several?) months ago, a bit before Aion launched. I was excited about it, as were many of the members and contributing visitors to the community. As I recall, there was a bit of hype concerning the game in many other areas too. I know that initially spirits were high, [...]

I love my kids. They can run me though the gambit of negative emotions and then make me forget why I was mad with a wink, a smile, or a random act of goofiness. They do wear me out though. I probably have the world’s most energetic son (as I’m sure every parent thinks). From [...]

I’ve got a fever! And the only prescription, is more cowbell MMO’s. Seriously, it’s like I have MMOADD Mooaaadd….Moad. That’s fun to say. Anyways, yeah, I thought I finally had my list of MMO options narrowed down. I was so wrong. When I’m playing any given game, I think, “Yup, this is the one I’m [...]

Episode 24…the podcast about nothing.

This week, we mostly hit on the games we’ve been playing, and really not much else. Next week we’ll make it up to you. We promise…the consequences that we will incur if we [...]

To be frank…no not Frank…ya know, like “to be blunt.” With me now? Okay. To be straightforward with you, Allods is a weird ass game. It starts you with almost no exposition as to who you are in the world. You can easily (as many people unfortunately do) make your character look like Hitler. There [...]

Wait what?! Kaar posted this? What happened to Zeli? :O I call shenanigans!!!
As for AC, ME, and Bioshock, I think picking up the sequels will be worth doing because each game learned from their mistakes with the beginners. Assassin’s Creed 2 will be much less linear and more open, giving players many options. Mass Effect 2’s Combat has been revamped to be much more action oriented while still giving players the same RPG goodness. And Bioshock… well Bioshock 2 will just be awesome because I can’t think of any problems with the 1st one >_>;. So would you kindly go pre-order those games?
November 16, 2009 - 6:00 am
Yeah, Shannon and Jason have been sick this week. No worries with Kaar though…he cut out lots of my screw ups. =D

TOTALLY AWESOME PICTURE! fantastic imagery for the episode!
i have some questions for the next one, i wrote them down… but they’re about 30 seconds of walking away. maybe 20 seconds of jogging, and 10 seconds of running without looking and hoping i dont crash headfirst into somebody.
so im just gonna send them to the multiplaying gmail later on today… or something ;P

Great show. A lot of good solid discussion instead of the usual stuff. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I like the usaul stuff that’s why I’m here.

It’s cool to listen to you guys mention DangerLands sometimes on the PodCast which I listen to on my commute
Winin has been doing an amazing job with world-building. I’m working hard to get the networking right in the game and I’ll be listening closely to make this game cool. It’s hard to tell right now as it’s very simple, but we have some awesome things planned and we’ll entertain any crazy feature request!
As a developer working two jobs and making DangerLands in my spare time, it’s invaluable to hear your insights on PvP and gameplay in other MMOs because I don’t have time to play them all! But I do listen and take your opinions seriously as players.

Man, I gotta listen to this episode! Droid funkiness prevented me from noticing that it had come out and been downloaded. Curse you Google Listen App!
