Lookit me…I’m Slurms, Homeowner!

by Steve "Slurms" Lichtsinn

So this morning in Lord of the Rings Online, I did something that I haven’t done in an MMO since I played Dark Age of Camelot. I bought a house. I never even considered the housing equation when I started playing LotRO. It’s never been on my checklist of must haves, or even something that I rate a game on, but I should. I absolutely love player housing. Yes, it’s mostly fluff, but doing things like collect trophies and decorations for your home is just another layer of the onion cake that can add to your enjoyment of the game. Plus, it’s nice to know you have a little spot in the world that’s all yours. I’d like to see more of an Ulitma Online implementation to housing where you can place your home in the world, rather than a seperate zone, but I’m happy it’s at least present in LotRO.

With that, I figured I’d share some screenshots of my journey so far, ending with the recent home purchase. (I really need to remember to take more pictures) Enjoy!

I love player housing, even if it is only fluff. I’m surprised more games don’t offer it from the get go, either in the form of individual houses or guild housing. I like housing in LotRO because you can find things for trophies and most of the crafts make little things for the house too.

Grats on the house :D I love the Bree Land homesteads. Our kinhall is there and it’s nice to visit. My house is in Thorin’s Hall (for convenience) and it’s a little too dank and…dwarfy…for my tastes.
