DDO’s and DDOn’ts
I played Dungeons and Dragons Online with a group of friends last night. Previously, my experience with DDO was a single player affair, which, anyone who has played the game knows that’s the least fun way. A true statement for most games, one especially true for a dungeon crawl focused MMO.
To be blunt, DDO has aged since I last touched my virtual big toe into its waters. It looks pretty horrible by today’s standards and feels pretty wonky to control as well. But most of that side of the experience sheds away once you allow yourself to be immersed in the game. Just kidding! It doesn’t go away until everyone in the group starts acting like morons.
We had a lot of laughs, but more than anything, last nights experience revitalized my anxiousness for The Old Republic. I had been wondering recently if an MMO was even something I was up for anymore. I’ve dropped some big coin on the collector’s edition of TOR, so the thought that I may have gone a little overboard wasn’t sitting so well, especially given the time of year when my bank account will get charged for the box of goodies.
But then last night happened and, well, let’s just say I’m looking forward to a lot more of the same.
