Internet Super Friends!

Well hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted so for starters, an apology. I’ve been quite busy at work, Rift is nearly here so I’m getting prepared for that and the podcast which will accompany it, and I just got a new PC! It’s nothing I’d call spectacular, but it does mark the first occasion since 1999 that I’ve owned a pre-built rig. My wife actually found the deal on the PC for herself, and upon looking at it, I found it would be a huge step up in performance even for me. So, I asked if we could buy two.

I love my wife.

Anyways, the new PC is not what I came here to talk about (but if you’d like to see it, click here). No, today I want to talk about what’s been happening behind the scenes of Multiplaying.

A couple weeks ago, I posted an update on the blog asking if anyone would be interested in joining us in our journeys through Rift. At first, we had our regulars who were already interested in the game speak up, but not much more. I assumed it would be the usual merry band of miscreants that I would see on launch day. Then we had a couple more people throw their hat into the ring. Then we got word that some old alliance buddies would be joining us on the same server in Rift. Then a couple more people came by via twitter. Then another, and another, and another – you see where I’m going here.

What’s amazing about our recent growth in guild members isn’t even the fact that we’re growing; it’s who we’re growing with. The people who have decided to spend their time with us are fantastic. They’re people who some of us already know in some way whether it be from their blogs or from twitter, and every addition makes me more and more excited for Rift to get here.

I’ve stated before that playing an MMO for me is just as much about the people you play with as it is the game itself. Whether or not everyone stays with the game, or with us, I can already tell that for at least the first week, month, or however long it is until we finally decide to move on, it will be a memorable experience.

Thanks to everyone who will make it one.

I’m looking forward to it! While not quite the excitement level I felt before CoT went to WAR, it is a close second. It will be good to be in game with more than just a few of us as has been the case over the last year or so. And I’m really looking forward to being in game with some of the great friends from Twitter and other bloggers.

I wish you guys all the luck in the world and off world. Keeping a guild of bloggers and twitters together after the first month of tourism season is hard, but I think with the support you already have in place, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Tourists aren’t that hard to keep around, just get something shiny or with vaguely bright colors. It is looking like a pretty sizable group. Quick question, if we’re Defiant, does that make us the JLA or the LOD?

  • The response has been fantastic. I’m really excited to be playing with original CoT, Multiplaying, Twitter folk, bloggers, listeners and readers. The Multiplaying community is pretty special and you’re absolutely right about one thing: it will be a memorable experience.

    WOOT.

Also, Rer, I’m superhero dumb but Aquaman sounds hot, so I’ll take it.

No no no. Here’s how it works

      Abb is Superman
      Zeli is Wonder Woman
Slurms is Batman, because he does all the actual work
      Dean is Aquaman
