Mythic, all I want for Xmas…

I don’t figure any of this will get done, let alone by the holidays, but a man can dream! Heck, I never figured I’d have this glorious mustache, but LOOK AT ME NOW!

With the release of the 1.4 patch and all of the amazing open RvR that has come with it, I’ve been inspired to write something about WAR nearly every night I log on (I just don’t write it all down because, let’s face it, what you DO get is bad enough, and the stuff I hold back is even worse). The game has its hooks further into me than ever before and I once again feel like I have an MMO to call my home. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t mind moving the furniture though…or even have summer homes. So, here is a quick list of some ideas that I’ve had that I think could help with the player experience in WAR. Let me know what you think below in the comments!

Pimp my Keep – With the new keep mechanics, each side has one keep to defend, and one keep to attack. I absolutely love the change as it gives a clear objective for offense and allows players to have some ownership of something to defend. Going along with the latter, I’d love it if Mythic would take a look at each side’s respective keep. Now, I’m not saying they should remove the Dwarven-made destruction keep and replace it with a Greenskin model, but make it look like it’s been altered by the side that has control of it. Place some symbolism around the walls and in the courtyard to show “who runs Barter Town.” MASTA BLASTA!

AoE Siege + Fire – The upgrade in damage output and being able to deploy siege weaponry out on the battlefield is a huge improvement to the game, but much like Bootae said, the AoE cannons still kind of suck. These things should move people out of any area they strike. Easy fix: combine the AoE hit with a fire effect like the aerial bombers get.

Guild Slay Love – I’ve mentioned it on the podcast, but I’m puttin’ it on paper! Well, on the internet! I really hope that Mythic takes a close look at the whole guild system. My guild currently consists of two people. It used to have a much higher number, but most of the crew is swimming in the MMOcean, occasionally climbing aboard from time to time. Sure, I don’t expect the guild’s rank to move very consistently with this many people, but I don’t think it’s budged for a few weeks now. Maybe some rewards system could be put into place based on RvR accomplishments. If you participate in a keep or city siege, you get a token that can be turned in for a specific amount of guild XP. I dunno…something.

That’s all I got for now. You have anything you want changed in WAR? Drop it the comments and all your wishes will come true!

I really should resub for a month or so just to get back into this game. I still have a 34 goblin shaman and would love to see all the changes. Sounds like a whole new game to me now.

The Santa Space Marine looks awesome!

  • Of note: I had done a study on the Guild XP criteria. RvR returns are out of whack versus PvE.
The guild I was in gained two levels in a week doing JUST PvE. When I switched to RvR the following week, I moved HALF a level.

    VERY inconsistent.

Look for Bruglirs blog who also has seen this same result.

Basically, wanna level your guild? Gotta PvE like crazy!

    • Indeed. Our guild rank is actually somewhat high considering the low amount of time we spend in game, but that’s because when we had the higher amount of people playing, we were mostly doing PvE (since back then, it was the bes way to level/get gear).

I imagine it will be addressed at some point, I just hope soon. =D

What I want is a ‘stache like that. And some drops that accually help me now. All I seem to ever get is stuff I can’t use for another 40 renown ranks.

  • I defintely feel the guild system could do with some love. It was a good idea, that wasn’t executed that well. Out of time, out of money, but lacks a killer set of features.

Like you, I am in a guild of bugger all people. Like 1 and at the moment, I think it’s taken me about 4 months to move it about 50% of level 34. That’s going to take me a while.

The problem with overlaying the art work of the winning realm for a zone lock, is that no one is really around from that point forward to appreciate it. It’s bam and onto the next zone.
