Yes, this is the one, I’m sure this time I swear

Like a tornado hitting an insane asylum, my first week or so back to Warhammer Online has been a whirlwind of craziness. I’ve transferred Order characters from one server to another so that I could move Destruction characters to the server my Order guys were on. Then after finding out that the server we chose for Destruction was somewhat low on action in comparison to the other servers, I moved again. But, I am now calling Badlands my home for Destruction and Iron Rock for Order. The changing went so far as to drive one of the podcast members to drink (sorry Shannon!)

I think I even got my class of choice figured out and hope to be settled on the Shaman. I rode the fence all weekend, and it was one of those chain link ones that poked above the top bar a bit, so it really chaffed. I wanted to play a Black Orc initially, but figured I needed a break from tanking. I’d only ever played the Shaman once before, and it wasn’t a very long run with him. The allure of the tank and DPS classes of WAR was always too great for me to get interested in anything more than the hybrid healers. From my previous experiences in the game, I know that tanks can be amazingly fun in certain situations, but dull as dirt during keep defenses and slow to level if I feel like venturing into PvE land. I wanted something that would challenge me a bit more than going through a cycle of attacks and so far, from trying to keep my eyes on others’ health bars to being mindful of where my enemies are, the Shaman really makes me rethink how to play a class. I’m enjoying him even though I’m still quite low, and have a goal to get one of those great looking pointy hats. They are all the rage this year. Those and skirts with poodles on them.

I’ve no clue as to how I’m going to spec the little bugger yet, so if anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears. Or I guess that would be all eyes since you’ll be typing the suggestions. But I guess I could read it out loud.

No clue how much the class has changed in the last year or so, but I could not stay alive very long or do that much damage as a dps shaman. I always liked the survivability that a healing shaman gave. Besides, in scenarios you get targeted regardless, because you might be healing as far as the other side knows, so might as well be able to live through it a bit.

You may have an adjustment though, since as a tank you don’t get targetted immediately. But as a shaman, you’ve got a target on your face :(

Shams are awesome, I prefer my sham over my Chosen and Squigherder… now if I can get 2500g I’ll be able to rock out my Sandstorm Deeperdeeps staff.

I played an Archmage to 40. It was really fun. I think you will like the Shaman. The only problem is people tend to complain anytime they see you attacking too much. I don’t no why they bitch, that is the way the class was designed.

So you are the opposite of me on both servers :) Shaman is a fun class, love the theme.
