Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Dated!
People who know me well enough by now know that I love fighting games. Currently, my big addiction is Super Street Fighter IV. While the level of my obsession varies from “yeah, I played a bit last week” to “I’m watching online matches every night to pick up tips” the fact is; I love the game.
I don’t blog about it much because I wouldn’t have much to say. I doubt many people would care about my thoughts on certain characters (I HATE EVERYONE BUT CODY) or just how close my recent matches were (SAKURA CAN DIE IN A FIRE) so I just mention it on occasion to show that I keep up with it.
Today though, I have news! Something that I’ve been anxiously awaiting has been confirmed; the release of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. To those who may not have been keeping an eye on the game, the Arcade Edition is what is currently on cabinets in Japan (and elsewhere if you’re lucky). The difference being some balance changes to the characters themselves (damage amounts and slightly altered hit-boxes if I recall) and additional characters. These characters include Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III as well as Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma. While I have little to no interest in the additional fighters, I do look forward to getting free points from people attempting to learn them.
The Arcade Edition will be available on June 7th via downloadable content, and June 28th for the retail disc. It’s even coming to PC! The only potential down-side to this news is that they will be allowing people to play the game with the old balance set OR the new rules via an option on the menu. I say this is potentially bad news because I worry that it will split the community too much, almost like how Counter Strike was (maybe is still?) when they switched to the Source engine. But, ultimately as long as everyone is enjoying the game, that’s all that matters. I look forward to it nonetheless.
